CHURCH HISTORY
Highlights of Cephas Christian Church History
Cephas Christian Church was
founded by Rev. Cornelius V.
Smith, Rev. Bobby R.
Williams and Sis. Renee Hardin-Tammons.
On the second Friday in
September 2006, Rev. Smith with two devoted followers namely
Rev. Williams and Sis. Hardin-Tammons met at Sis. Hardin-Tammons
home for an organizational meeting, hence, this was the
birth of Cephas Christian Church.
Cephas Christian Church had
its inaugural service at the Airport Hilton Hotel on October
22, 2006. On this day, 33 people were moved by the
Spirit of God to unite with this ministry. Cephas
acknowledged the death; burial and resurrection of our Lord
and Savior by celebrating their first communion on the third
Sunday in November 2006. We thank God for Sister Donna
L. Blackmon who served as acting Church/Clerk/Secretary and
after uniting with Cephas became our official
Church/Clerk/Secretary.
God has blessed Cephas
Christian Church with a place to have Prayer Meetings, Bible
Study, and a rehearsal site for the singing aggregation. We praise God for Sister Barbara Jackson
and the seniors at the New Northside Village Senior Living
Facility.
On Sunday, December 3,
2006; God blessed Cephas to move to its second location,
9825 Halls Ferry Road. By the year's end 6 ministries
had been established in support of Cephas' vision based on
the truth found in Matthew 16:18.
| And I also say to you that
you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and
the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. |
They were Deacon's
Ministry; Trustee Ministry; Youth Ministry; Education; Care
Givers and Music. God blessed Cephas with an
additional 60 members before 2007 of which 6 were baptized.
